Who is Matt:
Originally from Washington County in Upstate NY, Matt has been a handyman in an unofficial capacity for much of his life. Throughout his high school career, he spent much of his time helping his parents renovate their Victorian Bed and Breakfast. This is where he learned the tricks of the trade: going between fixing burst pipes, patching drywall, stripping paint, demolishing rooms, running wires for new outlets, or anything else that’s required. While in high school, Matt worked as an HVAC technician, installing residential geothermal systems, where he got his first experience working in customers’ homes.
After high school, Matt got a degree in Robotics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Much like a handyman, this degree is meant for a jack-of-all-trades, giving a breadth of knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science.
Post college, Matt was employed by a number of companies in various industries. This includes designing electronics for iRobot, fitting prosthetic arms for a new startup, and designing semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Now, Matt is employed full time by Macy’s Studios as a Special Effects Technician. He is responsible for all of the moving parts you can see on floats during the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
